ISIS is using Pokémon Go to recruit new fighters

Reports are coming in that ISIS have been using the popular Pokémon Go game as a key tool in a new recruiting drive.

Islamic State gaming experts are said to be deploying Pokémon lures within ISIS territory to attract rare Pokémons and then rounding up any players who stray into that territory to catch them.

"With the latest attacks on our positions in Aleppo, defending them has cost us a large number of martyrs", an Isis spokesman said. "But we've found that utilizing the Pokémon Go game, we've been able to refill those positions twice over."

"We set up trails of lures that lead straight from the border to one of our Pokémon gyms in Raqqa. You can always tell ours, we're valour, and as the players converge to challenge for our gym, we send the welcome bus in and 'recruit' them."

Parents of unwitting Pokémon players have expressed alarm at the tactic and that their young adult children have been roped into fighting for ISIS, but stop short of condemning the recruitment tactic.

One mother told us "of course I'm concerned that my son's been essentially kidnapped and forced to fight for ISIS, but at least he's not playing that pokéy game anymore."

"And he's pretty much got a job for life with them too. You know, things could be worse." she added.

Isis sources tell us plans are underway to setup remote radicalization units in western cities based on their successful recruitment drives in Iraq and Syria.
