After 7 escapes or maulings by tigers in New York State over 15 years, State legislators have finally passed a bill, introduced by Upper West Side Democrat Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal, which bans people from posing for photos involving tigers.
Rosenthal explained that she introduced the legislation to increase safety at traveling circuses and county fairs that allow the public to get up close and personal with their big cats. She failed to mention that there has only been 2 big-cat maulings at traveling shows in the past 10 years.
Determined Tiger Selfie enthusiasts now face fines of $500 if caught.
